Profile
Robert has over 21 years experience as a counsellor in addiction settings and primary care mental health and four years as a cognitive behavioural psychotherapist within the NHS. Robert has worked with people experiencing difficulties with alcohol, drugs and gambling problems in community and residential settings and common mental health problems including anxiety disorders and major depression presentations.
Robert uses an integrative style in his therapy and begins with an assessment to understand
difficulties being experienced and an idea of the direction the person wishes to take the therapy
eliciting clear goals to work towards. Whilst Cognitive Behavioural Therapy offers a more structured approach to help with difficulties, Robert will combine other approaches to complement this with
Mindfulness, Compassion Focussed Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to help develop a sense of moving towards a living life based on what the person values and what they consider to be
important.
Robert has a friendly, patient and warm disposition that help clients become comfortable and safe in exploring their problems and working towards their chosen goals.
