1. Assessment & Preparation — 90 minutes
We begin with a dedicated 90-minute assessment and preparation session.
This gives us time to understand what has brought you to therapy, assess whether an intensive approach is appropriate for you, establish your goals and expectations, and prepare you for the EMDR
process.
We will also discuss how to make the best use of the breaks within your intensive. Breaks are an important part of the process, providing opportunities for grounding, integration and allowing your
nervous system time to settle between periods of therapeutic processing.
Together, we will consider what will help you use these breaks effectively and support you in remaining within your window of tolerance throughout the day.
It is also an opportunity for us to consider whether your difficulties are centred around a specific incident or whether there may be a wider picture that would benefit from a longer course of
therapy.
2. Your Exclusive EMDR Intensive — Four 60-Minute Sessions
The intensive consists of four 60-minute EMDR therapy sessions across the day, with appropriate breaks between sessions.
These breaks are not simply time away from therapy. They are an important part of the intensive, allowing space for grounding, integration and processing, and helping us to work at a pace that
supports you to remain within your window of tolerance.
The day will therefore have a clear structure while remaining responsive to your individual needs. We will monitor how you are responding throughout and adjust the pace where clinically
appropriate.
The intensive can take place in clinic in Willenhall, West Midlands, or online, depending on suitability and preference.
3. Exclusive Message-Based Follow-Up Care
Your care doesn’t end when your intensive finishes with us.
For the three days following your intensive, you’ll have access to exclusive message-based follow-up care. This gives you a dedicated channel to share how you’re feeling, ask questions, or let me
know about anything that arises as you continue to process the work we have completed.
I will aim to respond to messages within 24 hours, providing appropriate guidance and support as you move through the days following your intensive.
This additional layer of care is designed to help you feel supported beyond the therapy room, rather than simply completing your intensive and navigating the days afterwards alone.
4. Review Session
We will have a dedicated review call after your intensive.
This gives us an opportunity to reflect on how you have been since the intensive, consider the changes you have noticed, and discuss what would be most helpful moving forward.
For some people, an intensive may be sufficient for the particular issue they wanted to address. For others, the intensive may become an important part of wider therapeutic work. If further sessions would be beneficial, we can explore this together during your review.
